Dear Yuletide Writer

Hello!
This is my first Yuletide, so forgive me if I haven't quite got the format of the letter right. (But I have worked out the "treats welcome" thing!) And of course thank you for writing for me!
If we're starting with the do-not-wants: smut, non-canonical character death, first person POV, other-setting AUs (canon divergence is fine), crackfic, omegaverse (well, okay, that's possibly covered by "no smut"), downer endings, embarrassing situations, abusive relationships, character bashing, gore, non-canon parenthood plots, infidelity, bodyswap, darkfic
In a general sense I like plot and slice-of-life stuff. Casefic where that's applicable. I've got a strong preference for third person but I'm not at all fussy about tense. (Please do not take this as a challenge to write the whole fic in future perfect or something. You know what I mean-- past or present, up to you.)
Requested fandoms:
Green Hornet (TV series), Kato and Lenore Case: Kato and Casey know both identities and share responsibility for running Britt's life (Kato is, after all, not just the Green Hornet's sidekick; he's also Britt Reid's valet) and frequently have to deal with Mike Axford ranting about how he's going to get that Green Hornet one of these days. Clearly they're coordinating with each other! What does it look like when they're talking? Are they coordinating Britt's schedule and the Green Hornet's in a surprisingly mundane fashion? Does Kato sympathize with Casey about Britt's endless parade of women? Do they share a joint eyeroll because Mike is railing about the Green Hornet again? Some other entertaining-yet-laden-with-dramatic-irony conversation I haven't thought of? I'd like for you to keep to the same general tone as the show-- this is not a canon I want hurt/comfort for-- but other than that, feel free to go wild with how these two might interact with each other!
The two things I adore about this canon are the dramatic irony and the tone: that it's not campy (not like the sixties Batman was) but it's also not taking itself Deeply Seriously. Like, this is a series where someone dresses up as a space alien to steal a nuclear bomb and yet is still a deeply dangerous, intimidating antagonist. (Even if I did spend the first twenty minutes of that episode desperately trying to figure out if we'd changed genres.) I love that balance, where the show plays the premise completely straight but there's never any sense the *writers* weren't perfectly aware how ridiculous the concept is if you stop to think about it for half a second.
Ghost Whisperer, Melinda Gordon and Rick Payne: I like these two as a pairing but they are also lovely as not-a-pairing, so I can go either way on ship or gen. (Just please no villainizing Jim. Jim is a good guy. If you're going for shipping... maybe Rick came back from his sabbatical after Jim's death, maybe Jim turned out to be gay, maybe they just realized they worked better as friends, maybe they've opened their marriage... or maybe this is a totally platonic gen fic. Or something else, as long as Jim stays a good guy.) This one is a canon where I would enjoy Melinda as the hurt and Rick as the comfort (maybe after one of Melinda's utterly terrifying visions), but I'm also good with them as friendship fic or Rick getting dragged into solving yet another ghost. I just really like these two together, interacting. They have such a sweet relationship!
(But also no season five. Can we just pretend season 5 never happened?)
Some thoughts on prompts: Rick following Melinda into that thing under Grandview, which I imagine looks less creepy if you can't see the ghosts but is still a giant underground cavern. Maybe he has to keep her grounded in among all the ghosts, maybe he has to help her out of a cave-in.
Rick comforting Melinda about Gabriel being her brother, during the time period before we know who her real father is.
That "they've opened their marriage" thing might also be fun to play with. What does the Jim-Melinda-Rick triad look like?
Melinda staying a foster parent after "Children of Ghosts" and having a succession of haunted kids.
October Daye series, Dianda Lorden and Simon Lorden: The immediate aftermath of the marriage! How is their side of the marriage going? How is Simon adjusting to the initial phase of life in the Undersea? How is Dianda handling being August's stepmother? What are they like with each other when Patrick isn't around? I'm really amused by the idea of Dianda and Simon sitting down to talk about parenting, because they both clearly love their kids and they've had such vastly different experiences of being a parent-- and I imagine there's a lot of helping August adjust that they're both figuring out behind the scenes.
I'd really prefer the lighter end for this; I know canon can get pretty far down the despair horizon at times and I know Simon cannot be written without the heaps of trauma present (and I wouldn't want him to be; the PTSD is an integral part of his character at this point), but I'd like to see them on a nice normal day when there aren't Myth Arc Shenanigans happening. Maybe there's some minor problem with Saltmist's court that they have to solve together, or they have to settle a dispute between the kids, or they're talking over how to handle some sort of disciplining of the kids, or they're planning a surprise for Patrick.
